A life-long resident of Agawam and a graduate of its schools, Mr. Sapelli received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics from St. Anselm’s College in New Hampshire, a Master of Education degree from American International College, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Administration from Westfield State College.
An employee of the Agawam Public Schools for the past 30 years, Mr. Sapelli began his career teaching eighth grade Social Studies and Science. He assumed his first administrative position in 1985 when he was appointed Assistant Principal at the Agawam Middle School. In 1990, he was promoted to Principal of Robinson Park School, a position which he held for 12 years. Then in April 2002, Mr. Sapelli was appointed Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, a position he finds both challenging and exciting. As the districts Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction his responsibilities include system-wide curriculum and instruction, professional development, Section 504, Title I, No Child Left Behind, English Language Learning Program, MCAS, Home Schooling, and other administrative duties. Mr. Sapelli has two children, a son who will be entering Nichols College in September 2007 and a daughter presently attending Agawam High School. When not spending time with his children, his pasttimes include serving as a collegiate ice hockey official and golfing. |
