Mr. John Kane
	Assistant Superintendent

Agawam Public Schools’ assistant superintendent for business/human resources is no stranger to the world of numbers. Serving as an auditor for the Mass. Department of Education, Bureau of External Audit for 10 years. John Kane also worked as a tax examiner for the Mass. Department of Revenue and served as the city auditor for the City of Westfield. Mr. Kane was employed as a school business administrator for 10 years at the Ludlow Public Schools.

Receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and Master’s of Business Administration from American International College, Mr. Kane is a member of several national, state, and local associations. They include the Association of School Business Officials International, and the state and local chapters of the Mass. Association of School Business Officials. He also holds certifications as a Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official, a Massachusetts Department of Education Business Manager, and a Notary Public. He is also a board member of the City of Westfield’s Retirement Board.

In his position Mr. Kane is responsible for preparation and administration of a $32 million dollar budget, transportation, food services, contract negotiations, Federal and State grants, purchasing and personnel administration. A resident of Westfield where he resides with his wife, Theresa, and their two sons, Brendan, a student at the University of Duquesne and Sean a student at Westfield High School. Mr. Kane enjoys bike riding and sporting events with his family. He is also a founding member and on the Board of Directors for the Sons of Erin clubs in Westfield and on Cape Cod.
