EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY OF AGAWAM HIGH SCHOOL

The philosophy of Agawam High School is based on the premise that education is a key factor for success in life; therefore, the goals of our educational process stress not only the acquisition of knowledge, but also the application of that knowledge.

Our focus on both acquisition and application will enable the students to acquire a broad base of knowledge and skill from which they may realize an enhancement of self-esteem and personal growth resulting in sound social and ethical values.

Our educational process will also guide the students to a better understanding of their roles as citizens of our school, our community, our country, and on a large scale, our world.

THE OBJECTIVES OF AGAWAM HIGH SCHOOL

The implementation of the philosophy of Agawam High school is supported by the following objectives:

1.

To offer a climate for success, there is effective leadership based on integrity, honesty,

hard work, dedication, determination, and commitment.

2.

To provide an atmosphere for learning, there is a professionals caring and involved

staff.

3.

To enable the students to develop skill and knowledge, there is a diverse curriculum that

can and will be adapted and revised whenever necessary.

4.

To meet equally and fairly the needs of the entire student body, Special Services are

provided as mandated by the State.

5.

To prepare students for opportunities after high school, there is broad base of counseling

and guidance services.

To foster well-rounded individuals, there is equal opportunity for all students to

experience the aesthetic and to participate in extra-curricular activities.

To promote the personal growth of each student, there is encouragement to develop

independent thinking, leadership qualities and commitment to self, family, school,

community and country.

2.

To supplement and build more support for the school program, there is a more positive

and communicative relationship between the school and community.
