| SOCIAL STUDIES Sixth graders in Agawam study the geography of the world, excluding North America. As we study the different parts of the world, we will apply the 5 themes of geography to each continent. An easy way to remember the 5 themes of geography is to think of the acronym Mr. Lip •The 5 themes of Geography are: 1. M ovement 2. R egion 3. L ocation 4. I nteraction 5. P lace Also, we will be taking a look at important people and places from around the world. Face and name recognition will be stressed. World issues will be discussed as well as events closer to home. The goal is to introduce you to issues that drive our world, and help you as you prepare to become informed citizens who will soon have the legal right to vote! |
